Repossession limits lifted in courts
'Overall arrangements' limiting landlords' ability to take back possession of their homes have come to end it has been announced. Courts now no longer need to schedule two separate hearings (review and a substantive) before being able to issue a possession order.

A £65 million fund to cover rent arrears built during the Covid-19 pandemic has been announced today, following months of NRLA campaigning. The cash will be given to councils in England to support low-income earners in rent arrears - with payments expected to be made directly to landlords.

The NRLA is celebrating yet again after members' magazine Property was named Trade Magazine of the Year at the Property Press Awards this week. Ben and the team received the award from property expert, TV's Phil Spencer in a ceremony at London Museum on Wednesday.
NRLA celebrates awards success
The NRLA has won two awards at the prestigious Association Excellence Awards, with its magazine and Covid response singled out for praise. Property picked up the Bronze award for Best Association Magazine (over 25,000 circulation) and Best Lobbying Campaign or Advancement of a Cause during Covid-19 at the Association Excellence Awards.
What you need to know: court fees update
As of 30 September, the Government has increased the price of a number of fees that landlords have to pay when applying to court. This includes applications for warrants of possession, as well as making a small claim or enforcing it.
NRLA quoted in new pets report
Whether to allow pets in your property is something of a thorny issue. A new report out today by animal charity Advocats East Mids is calling for an amendment to the act, to allow for either landlords or tenants taking out pet damage insurance, or to allow a separate, capped pet deposit.
