NRLA Senior Managers
Ben Beadle is Chief Executive of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA), the UK’s largest trade body for landlords.
A landlord himself since the age of 20, Ben started out as property manager before working his way up through the ranks at Tenancy Deposit Scheme.
He was then Operations Director at property management business Touchstone before overseeing the merger of the National Residential Landlords Association (NLA) and Residential Landlords Association (RLA) to create the new trade body earlier this year.
His key aims as head of the organisation are to strengthen the voice of landlords in Westminster and Cardiff, to improve the reputation of landlords in the media and to support members through information, training and accreditation.
Phil is a Chartered Certified Accountant and joining the NRLA in October 2020 and the Board of Directors in August 2021.
Phil has extensive cross sector experience and worked in South East Asia for many years
Posts included CEO of the Indonesia businesses of global pharmaceutical companies and Chief Commercial Officer at SE Asia’s largest digital healthcare platform
In the UK, Phil was Finance Director of a number of businesses within Thames Water group.
He is also a landlord in the private residential sector with properties in the North West of England.
Chris Norris is responsible for policy and campaigns at the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA), having held a similar role at the NLA prior to its recent merger.
A private landlord and former letting agent himself, Chris has represented landlords for more than a decade, joining the NLA’s policy team in early 2007.
Before discovering the fun that can be had focussing on the PRS, Chris held a number of inhouse and consultancy public affairs roles focussing on housing, health, and social care.
Carla has over 20 years marketing experience working for some of the UKs largest brands including Asda, Nestle and Dusk.
She loves leading teams to deliver customer and commercial impact across the full marketing mix. At the NRLA, Carla is responsible for brand strategy, membership performance, event, product marketing, and design.
Alastair has worked with the NRLA for over six years managing IT, Technology and data protection, he is also responsible for our combined contact centre and data & insights function.
Prior to the NRLA, Alastair worked as a consultant in the public sector, the Office of Rail Regulation and with the NHS as Director of Informatics. He spent almost eight years at Westminster Council, latterly as the Strategic Director of Resources responsible for IT, HR, Customer Service, Procurement and Property.
He also worked in the commercial sector at Logica and T-Mobile and moving on to develop and run the website and partnerships at easyJet for 4 years, at the time the biggest dot.com in Europe.
His has been a landlord and has run the freehold and block management services for several central London properties.
James Kent is the founding Director of Safe2 and is currently serving as the Chief Innovation Officer for the National Residential Landlord Association.
James brings with him his expertise and a deep understanding of property dynamics. James possesses a skill set that enables him to offer practical insights at the intersection of both trades and property. He is passionately dedicated to revolutionising the rental sector, emphasising a keen interest in its modernisation. Leveraging his innovative perspective cultivated in his role at the NRLA, James eagerly finds solutions to propel the rental sector into a future characterised by enhanced efficiency, cutting-edge products, and a seamless experience for all participants in the industry.
Sam’s role is to lead the success of the commercial team by driving membership engagement and activity, ensuring to identify market leading service providers that innovate how landlords operate.
Sam has a wealth of knowledge in the PRS (Private Rented Sector) sector from working in the Property Management industry, meaning he sees both landlord and tenant facing challenges.
Emily has over 10 years of human resources experience, including the last 5 years leading the HR function at the NRLA. Before joining the NRLA, she worked in the Biotechnology sector and with Rentokil, a FTSE 100 company.
With a bachelor's degree in human resource management and a CIPD Level 5 qualification, Emily has a proven track record of success, with key achievements such as securing IIP Gold accreditation and being recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the best medium-sized organisations in 2024.
Lewis joined the NRLA in 2022 and manages the development of the suite of digital products and services the NRLA offer to members.
Prior to the NRLA Lewis worked for a number of start-ups, managing the user research, data acquisition & product development to build products from 0 to 100,000s of users. He is fortunate to have been granted several patents, launched multiple apps into Google Play & Apple App stores, and sold businesses to Pace Media and Toyota.
He has been a landlord since 2000.
Dan has been with the NRLA since June 2023 and leads our member contact area. With over 12 years experience in a wide range of industries; he is passionate about delivering exceptional service.
Originally from St Helens, he now lives in Cardiff with his wife and cat! A self-confessed History buff he also enjoys watching/playing cricket.
Stuart is passionate and excited about data, as well as providing insights and automation for people to help improve their job and decision making. He is a self-confessed geek both professionally and personally, but still approachable.
He was born and raised in Barnsley (Tarn) but now living in Wakefield with his family. He plays golf, enjoys reading and has various projects he likes to fill my spare time with.
Professionally, after graduating Sheffield Hallam University, he worked in IT and data roles for over 15 years spanning various industries for companies like DFS Furniture Ltd, Wavin and recently DB Cargo UK.
Meera joined the National Landlords Association (NLA) in May 2018, having previously worked in both policy development and project management for a range of not-for-profit and public sector organisations. Meera provides political insight both internally and for NRLA members, and lobbies in their best interests. Meera has extensive experience of building partnerships with stakeholders across communities, civil society and government, as well as developing collaborative approaches to policy challenges.
Prior to joining to the NLA, Meera provided policy and engagement support to the chief executive of the Big Lottery Fund, the UK’s biggest community funder. She also developed strategic policy at the General Medical Council, the regulator of doctors in the UK.
Rachael is an experienced marketer with over 15 years’ experience. She has worked at the NRLA for 3 years and prior to that, worked across various sectors including finance, retail and hospitality. Rachael is super organised and works well under pressure. Her team is responsible for acquiring new members, retaining existing members, delivering a calendar full of events, product marketing and providing creative for use across the business. Rachael is also a landlord.
