It’s been a whirlwind few years for landlords and, with the shadow of major legislation change on the horizon and a backdrop of challenging economic conditions, some may be feeling downhearted.
The impact of the Renters’ Rights Bill, new minimum energy efficiency regulations and the cost of borrowing has impacted on confidence levels of many landlords according to our most recent research. However, this is not the case across the board.
Many of you, particularly veteran landlords and investors, will have seen other seismic shifts during your time in the industry and – with this experience under your belt – feel confident you will be able to adapt to the new regulatory landscape.
To reflect this this, the NRLA is planning a feature in members’ magazine Property, talking to those of you who have been in buy-to-let for a number of decades, and are confident the sector will not only survive but thrive.
We want to ask about your journey, your biggest challenges and how you overcame them, what you think about the changes up ahead, and how you and your fellow landlords should approach them.
Is it a case of keep calm and carry on?
And could the PRS of the future in fact offer increased opportunities?
The sector has seen significant change in the past, but has been resilient in weathering these storms. Now we want to hear from you on how you plan to navigate the unchartered waters up ahead.
