How to prepare for the Renters’ Rights Bill: New guide goes live
A new guide outlining how you can prepare for the introduction of the Renters’ Rights legislation has gone live this week.
While the Renters’ Rights Bill is still making its way through the House of Lords, the NRLA explains ways in which you can prepare for the changes we already know will be happening, ahead of time.
This includes everything from reviewing your portfolio, to inspecting properties and updating processes around referencing, advertising and logging complaints.
In-depth information
Created by the NRLA policy team, the new guide is complemented by additional in-depth information on how tenancies and tenancy agreements will change once the Bill becomes law, the new rules around preventing discrimination, how the possession rules are changing, and how to manage rent payments, including rent increases, under the new rules.
The five guides have been added to the new and improved NRLA’s exclusive Renters’ Rights Bill Members’ Hub, which also includes frequently asked questions and links to our latest news articles and webinars on the Bill.
Following its Second Reading in the House of Lords, we are now awaiting a date for Committee stage, the next step on the Bill’s progress through Parliament, where concerns raised will be examined in greater detail.
With the Easter recess fast approaching this date could now be pushed back until later in the spring.
In the meantime, the NRLA will continue to engage with peers and Government officials to advocate for landlords’ and lobby for the practical amendments needed to make the Bill fair and workable for landlords and tenants.
