Energy efficiency: How to approach your response to Government plans

Controversial plans to introduce a minimum EPC rating of C to privately rented homes are out for consultation - and we are encouraging you to have your say.

The Government’s Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) consultation proposes landlords of the country’s 2.5million rented homes with D-G ratings should pay up to £15,000 per property to bring them up to standard – with a deadline of as early as 2028.

The NRLA, while supporting the principle of making homes more energy efficient, has serious concerns about the plans, which is why, as well as responding ourselves, we are encouraging you to share your thoughts ahead of the 2 May deadline.

With that in mind we have put together a document that will help you respond to the consultation document.
