Selective licensing approved in North Yorkshire town

A new selective licensing scheme has been approved in Scarborough, and will come into force on 1st June.

The scheme, which will last for five years, will apply to parts of the wards of Castle, Falsgrave and Stepney and Northstead.

There are already two similar schemes operating in other parts of Scarborough.

Where there is a selective licensing designation in place in an area, all privately rented properties in that area need to have a licence to be lawfully rented out.

Landlords with properties in the above areas will need to apply for a licence, and can find out more about the new licensing scheme here.
