Four new licensing schemes given go ahead in Manchester
Landlords with rental properties in Rusholme, Longsight, Levenshulme and Moss Side are advised to check whether their property will require a selective licence, after four new schemes were announced by Manchester City Council.
The new schemes will come into force on the same day, 9 August 2023, with the full list of streets the designations affect available to view on the Council's website.
Secretary of State approval
As with all proposed licensing schemes that impact more than 20% of an area, Manchester City Council needed to submit the proposals to the Secretary of State for formal approval, which has now been granted.
Existing schemes
Manchester is no stranger to licensing; there are already several active property licensing schemes in the city including:
- Ben Street: Clayton and Openshaw
- Hyde Road: Gorton and Abbey Hey
- Levenshulme
- Moss Side and Whalley Range
- Rusholme
- The Ladders: Gorton and Abbey Hey
- The Royals, Longslight
- Trinity: Harpurhey ward
