Notice periods extended in Wales but there will be some concessions
Landlords in Wales must give tenants six months notice by default of their intension to gain possession in most cases until 31st March 2021, Welsh Housing Minister Julie James announced today. The temporary extension to the notice period had been due to expire at the end of this month. However there are some concessions to the new notice period following extensive NRLA campaigning.
The evictions ban: Phil's story
Phil became a landlord at the start of this year, after retiring from his job due to ill health. His tenant stopped paying rent at the start of February. Phil says the tenant has been receiving Universal Credit payments as normal, and has been wilfully not paying rent. Here, he explains how the ban on evictions has affected him.
