Background
As regulations tighten and tenant rights expand, landlords must stay current with the latest legislation, guidelines, and court rulings in the private rental sector (PRS). This course will give an overview of the latest PRS changes, such as the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill, designed to improve tenant protections, abolish Section 21 ‘no-fault’ evictions, and increase security in the private rental sector. This bill represents a significant shift towards enhancing tenant rights and ensuring fair treatment within the PRS. In addition, the Electrical Safety Regulations ensure that all electrical installations in rental properties are safe and regularly inspected. Fire Safety Updates for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO): Adhere to the latest fire safety standards to protect tenants. Breathing Space Procedures for Tenants in Debt: Provide tenants temporary protection from creditors while seeking debt advice. The Tenant Fee Ban is now in effect, making it crucial for landlords and letting agents to understand its implications fully. This ban prohibits most fees charged to tenants, ensuring a fairer rental process. Significant updates have been made regarding Section 21 notices, with recent years bringing numerous changes and new requirements for the PRS. Staying informed on these developments is key to avoiding legal issues.
Stay compliant with the latest private rental sector (PRS) legislation and updates for landlords.
**RRB Standalone Course Available in 2025**
Numerous changes and additions are likely to be confirmed later in the legal process, so in-depth practical training will not be available during the early stages. As with any law change of this scale, secondary legislation will be required.
A Standalone Renters’ Rights Training Course will be available from February 2025. It will offer comprehensive coverage of all of the definitive Renters Rights Bill legislation and updates. This course is designed to help landlords and letting agents stay compliant and informed during a time of enormous change.
This training course qualifies for 3 continuous professional development (CPD) points which can help towards or maintain your accreditation with the NRLA. If you are interested in becoming an accredited landlord with the NRLA, CPD points are necessary to achieve that status.
NRLA Accreditation recognises landlords who have agreed to maintain professional standards in the management and maintenance of their rented property and deal fairly and professionally with their tenants. Accredited members demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of their responsibilities and obligations and strive to maintain, increase and improve their knowledge of the market through training and development. CPD points are awarded for all activities which improve those attributes and are a requisite of membership of the NRLA Accreditation Scheme.
