Managing rent arrears: Your video guide

The NRLA has jointly produced guidance offering practical ways landlords and tenants can work to address arrears that might be building as a result of the pandemic.

The guidance has backing from several organisations across the housing sector, including the Chartered Institute of Housing, The Property Redress Scheme, My Deposits, the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and ARLA Propertymark.

It contains advice to help landlords and tenants come to a mutually beneficial arrangements over arrears, including information on arranging rent deferrals, reductions and suspensions.

With some landlords and tenants experiencing rent arrears for the first time as a result of the pandemic, the step by step guidance also points to plenty of resources available to help develop budgeting plans or access benefits.

NRLA deputy director of policy and campaigns Meera Chindooroy has put together the following video explaining more about the guidance, which can also be read online here.
