Tinkering with tenancies threatens student market

Students are set to find it harder and harder to find homes to rent, with tinkering to the Renters' Rights Bill throwing up new obstacles to landlords operating in the sector.

Student landlords will be some of the hardest hit by changes being brought in under the Bill, with new amendments passed this week promising further restrictions which will force landlords to overhaul the way they work or quit the sector.

This could significantly impact the supply of homes to let - with a number of major UK cities already at crisis point when it comes to housing their student populations.
