Course of the month: Managing Residential Property and Lettings Level 3 Certificate

This month we focus on a nationally recognised course for agents and property managers, the Level 3 Certificate in Managing Residential Property and Lettings.

The qualification is in line with English law and has been designed for new and existing letting agents who want to improve their knowledge and enhance their property management skills.

The online course comprises of five units, on:

  • Preparing Landlords for Letting: This includes law, financial planning, tenancy agreements and marketing.
  • Setting up and managing a tenancy: This includes tenant checks, tenancy creation, rent payments and renewing or changing agreements.
  • Property Standards: This includes how to prepare a property for let, obligations and procedures when it comes to property standards and repairs and additional rules when it comes to HMOs and licensed properties.
  • Ending A Tenancy: This includes details on the process by which landlords and tenants can end a tenancy and the legal processes involved. 
  • Contractual Relationship & Business Conduct: This includes information on the law of agency, data protection and the legal obligations on small to medium enterprises.

Study and assessment

This qualification takes around 135 hours of self-study, and is followed by a multiple-choice assessment. The assessment is included in the price, and you will have 18 months in total to complete all units. 

Once the period of self-study has been completed students can book the online assessment, which can also be completed from home.

Accreditation

NRLA Accreditation recognises landlords who have agreed to maintain professional standards in the management and maintenance of their rented property and deal fairly and professionally with their tenants. CPD points are awarded for all activities which improve those attributes and are a requisite of membership of the NRLA Accreditation Scheme, with this course worth 12 basic points.
