In pictures: Hundreds attend NRLA on Tour events this week

Hundreds of landlords attended our free NRLA on Tour events this week, held in Llanelli and Manchester.

The events saw an excellent line-up of speakers and exhibitors sharing knowledge and expertise with delegates, as well as the chance to hear directly from NRLA CEO Ben Beadle about current campaigns on rental reform, and the Welsh Government's green paper on Fair Rents and a Right to Adequate Housing.

In Llanelli, over one hundred delegates attended the event on Tuesday for an afternoon of insightful presentations hosted by NRLA South Wales representative Gill Owens.

Ben Beadle gave an update on recent housing law changes, including the latest on the Renters (Reform) Bill which was published last week, and NRLA campaigning around this.

There were other presentations on the day from Wales' Shadow Climate Change Minister Janet-Finch Saunders, who appeared via a pre-recorded video, and spoke about the current rental landscape in Wales.

A representative from the Welsh Government also delivered an update, and NRLA representative Sandra Towers spoke about the importance of landlords in the room responding to the Welsh Government's rent controls consultation.

Cllr Linda Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council, delivered a presentation on "the importance of the private rented sector".

Later in the afternoon, delegates were also able to put their questions to a panel of experts, which included Douglas Haig, NRLA Non-Executive Director for Wales, Lucinda Wolf, Kearns Solicitors, Ross Thomas of Tai Pawb, and Cllr Lynda Thorne, Cabinet Member for Housing & Communities, Cardiff City Council.

NRLA on Tour in Manchester

On Thursday, the second NRLA on Tour event took place in Manchester, with North West representative Robert Johnson presenting.

It was standing room only, as delegates heard engaging presentations from Paul Shamplina, founder of Landlord Action, who provided an update on rental reform, section 21, and court reform.

NRLA CEO Ben Beadle took to the stage to update delegates on the Renters (Reform) Bill and the NRLA's extensive campaigning and hard work to shape the bill, followed by Doug Hall, of 3mc NRLA Mortgages, who delivered a presentation on the buy-to-let mortgage markets.

A lively and interesting panel discussion followed, with audience members asking some great questions of our panel, which as well as the above speakers also included experienced mediator Julie Ford, and Sean Hooker, Head of Redress and Ombudsman Office at Property Redress Scheme.

At both events this week, landlords had the opportunity to see live demonstrations of the NRLA’s Portfolio property management tool, which is free for NRLA members.

Both events included a range of exhibitors, including Tradepoint, Safe2Rent, No Letting Go, RentGuard Insurance, St James's PlaceGlixtone, 3mc NRLA Mortgages and Carmarthenshire County Council

NRLA on Tour follows other very well-received On Tour events which took place earlier this year.

The series of events comes with just weeks to go until the NRLA's national conference in Birmingham gets underway.
