NRLA reaches awards finals
The National Residential Landlord Association has reached the finals of two prestigious competitions celebrating the best of British trade associations.
The Association Excellence Awards has named the association as a finalist in four categories:
- Best Association Magazine (Circulation over 25000)
- Best Lobbying Campaign or Advancement of a Cause During Covid-19 (Over 500 Members)
- Best Membership Support During Covid-19 (5,001+ Members)
- UK Association of the Year
In the National Association Awards:
- Best Magazine,
- Best Membership Organisation
- Best Covid Response for National Association Awards
Celebrating its first anniversary this month, the NRLA grew membership by 10% in its first 12 months – hitting the 90,000 mark earlier this year.
And what a year it has been. During this period the advice team has taken 110,000 landlord calls, offering invaluable help and advice, provided almost half a million documents and guides to members and welcomed more than 33,000 landlords to online events.
Covid response
The last 15 months has seen the country face unprecedented challenges. In terms of the difficulties facing landlords, the NRLA has led from the front, issuing up to the minute guidance for landlords right from the start.
The association successfully lobbied for the buy-to-let mortgage deferral scheme, the prioritisation of the most serious cases in the courts, exemptions to the possessions ban and an increase to the Local Housing Allowance.
This was achieved while continuing to support landlords in all aspects of their lettings in the most difficult of circumstances.
With the new association came a new magazine, Property, showcasing diverse, unique and inspirational landlord stories, alongside the association's campaigns and research work, legislation updates and practical advice and wider issues affecting the sector.
It too had a role to play in supporting landlords with information and analysis during the pandemic and has gone from strength to strength, celebrating the membership and the good work the association is carrying out on members’ behalf.
NRLA chief executive Ben Beadle said: ‘While this was not the first year any of us imagined, the NRLA team has more than risen to the challenge and I am delighted its hard work has been recognised in this way.
“Reaching the finals is in itself a great achievement and I hope we will be celebrating success when the winners are announced later this summer.”
