Listen Up Landlords: Trade troubles and gardening disputes

The latest episode of NRLA podcast Listen Up Landlords is out now, looking at look at the rising cost of building materials and the challenges in sourcing labourers and the thorny issue of gardening disputes.

The most recent data from the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) shows that 87% of FMB members said the cost of materials has increased and 75% said that this would lead to an increase in the price they charge to the customer. More than half - 51% - said the lack of available labour had delayed jobs.

Presenters NRLA CEO Ben and landlord Richard Blanco talk Jeremy Gray, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at the Federation Of Master Builders about what's been happening in the industry and whether we are likely to see change any time soon, and property developer and landlord Charlotte Edwards, MD of Dennis Edward Homes, about her experience on the ground.

Joseph Taylor of the Landlord Advice Team joins the team for our regular update on the hot topics on the NRLA's landlord support line, before we talk to Sandy Bastin, Head of Tenancy Deposit Services at TDS, about outdoor spaces, including where responsibility lies when it comes to tending gardens, as well as common reasons for disputes and how they can be avoided.
