NRLA and Movewise to host housing roundtable
The NRLA is hosting a housing roundtable, inviting industry experts to discuss the impact of plummeting landlord confidence and what can be done to tackle it.
The online event, organised together with NRLA partner Movewise, will be held on May 9.
Hosted by NRLA Policy Director Chris Norris, the group will discuss the latest NRLA data that shows landlord confidence has fallen to the worst levels since the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the association’s regular Landlord Confidence Index more than a third of landlords are planning to sell properties in the next 12 months, with just 13 per cent planning to buy.
The challenging economic climate is exacerbated by the fear of the unknown, with some of the biggest changes to hit the PRS in 30 years looming, with the Government’s Renters’ Reform Bill on the horizon and changes to Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards also on the cards.
The panel includes:
- James Donohue of Movewise, who will talk about landlords selling homes
- Doug Hall of mortgage broker 3MC on mortgage rates
- Neil Peers of TDS on tenancy protection challenges
- Chris Bailey of Less Tax for Landlords on accountancy challenges and
- Paul Shamplina of Hamilton Fraser on the impact of proposed legislative changes
During the 45-minute session they will examine the importance of landlord confidence, the issues that are affecting it and changes that could encourage landlords to remain in the market and continue to invest.
