Green Homes Grant: Lockdown guidance

Green Homes Grant installers can continue to work in people’s homes during the national lockdown, the Government has confirmed.

The news comes as official guidance was updated to reflect the introduction of the new restrictions which will see pubs, restaurants, gyms closed as of November 5, with people advised to stay home wherever possible.

Landlords and homeowners have been assured they can still apply for grants and get works done with installers (and other tradespeople) still allowed to enter homes to carry out works, provided they follow the COVID-19 Secure guidelines.

The guidance pages for both consumers and tradespeople have been updated on gov.uk

The NLRA is encouraging members to take advantage of the grants scheme while it is still available.

Initially announced over the summer, grants of up to £5,000 are available for private landlords to upgrade their properties in England.

Grants will be issued as vouchers, cover up to two-thirds of costs, and are available for specific measures.

To help members navigate the application process for the Green Homes Grant Scheme the NRLA website now includes a step-by-step guide to accessing the grants. Here, you can learn more about eligibility for the scheme, what the different primary and secondary measures are and how to find a trader.

There will also be a webinar on green grants on Wednesday December 9. To register click here.
