Event description
This is an informal & friendly Coffee & Chat event to meet like minded landlords and ask any questions you have or experiences you may want to share.
Rob Johnson NRLA Regional Representative will provide a brief update on the Renters Reform Bill including the proposals for:
- The end of no-fault evictions
- The new mandatory Ombudsman for landlords and tenants.
- The right to request a pet to keep at the property.
- A requirement for landlords to give two months’ notice of rent changes.
- New requirements for current assured and shorthold tenancy periods.
Also on hand will be Immigration specialists to discuss changes in the right to rent legislation and Cumbria Fire and Rescue service will also provide updates on the new smoke and carbon monoxide alarm regulations.
Councillor Bob Kelly, Cumberland Council Executive Member for Policy and Regulatory Services, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for private landlords and lettings agents to network whilst ensuring they’re up to date with the latest bills, laws, and legislation.
“The rules have become more complex over the years, and there’s been some important updates recently, particularly with the announcement of the Renters Reform Bill which could bring an end to no-fault evictions, and the new smoke and carbon monoxide alarm regulations introduced last year.
“The penalties for not abiding by the rules can be severe and legal advice can be costly. We want to help ensure that landlords and lettings agents in the Cumberland area are well informed, and tenancies are safe and legal.
“This event offers people the chance to gain valuable insight and information, provided by the experts, for free. An opportunity not to be missed.”
Tea & Coffee will be provided. This is for members and non members of the NRLA.
We will not be able to admit delegates who do not pre-register.
