Agenda

Joanne Dron - Senior Regional Representative – NRLA - Legislative Update
Joanne will be taking us through a whistle-stop tour of what is changing within the world of the landlord and what you should be keeping your eye out for in the coming 12 months.

Lucy Whittaker - Domestic Abuse Caseworker - Victim Support - Domestic Violence
Lucy will be discussing how Landlords and The Private Rental Sector are already enormously impacted by domestic abuse but won’t necessarily know it or be ill-equipped to respond and mediate against the ripple effect. She will discuss how creating a culture of understanding across your own organisation allows you to connect enormously with the 1 in 5 adults that will experience domestic abuse which benefits not only your own organisation but the community it needs to thrive in.

Lucy Whittaker is from Alpha Vesta CIC, an Essex based Community Interest Company, with a very a strong foundation and mission statement of ‘breaking the cycle’ of domestic abuse.

Paul Gayler - Strategic Housing Services Manager - Chelmsford City Council - Chelmsford City Council's Housing Strategy for 2022 -2027
Paul Gayler, Strategic Housing Services Manager of Chelmsford City Council will outline the changes and challenges that Chelmsford City Council faces in trying to reduce the gap between those in housing need and the current and future supply of homes in the district? What are the aims of the Council’s new Housing Strategy and the role of private landlords?

Paul has more than 25 years’ experience working with strategic housing issues for a number of local authorities in Essex, focussing on ways to reduce homelessness and improve the supply of homes to meet need as well as demand.
