New toolkit for Welsh landlords to respond to rent controls consultation
A new toolkit, designed to help landlords understand and respond to the Welsh Government’s consultation on rent controls, has been launched by the NRLA.
The Welsh Government launched the green paper on fair rents and adequate housing earlier in the summer.
The toolkit, developed by experts within the association, lays out helpful guidance and suggested responses, for each section of the consultation.
It also highlights multiple useful links and research, that can be used as evidence in responses.
When the consultation launched in June, the NRLA responded at the time by warning that introducing rent controls will only serve to decimate the sector and would also make things more difficult for tenants looking for homes to rent, given demand is already outstripping supply.
Throughout July, a series of Welsh-Government led working groups took place, during which stakeholders, including landlords, were invited to share their views as part of the consultation process.
Green paper
Green Papers are used to help develop policy proposals, which will be set out in a forthcoming White Paper.
As such, the NRLA is urging all landlords in Wales to use the NRLA's new toolkit and respond directly to the Welsh Government’s Fair Rents consultation, before the closing date on 15th September.
The NRLA will also be responding directly to this consultation. The response will be shared in due course.
