So, you’ve chosen some swish looking blinds that you want to install.

The first thing you need to consider is how you want the blinds to be fitted.

There are two main ways of fixing roller blinds, on the outside of the actual window or in the recess.

If you chose the first, make sure the space is wide enough to hang the brackets on the wall.

Top tip! The roller blind may have to be cut down to fit if hanging it on the inside, so before buying your blind, check it can be cut down to a custom width.

Need to cut the blind?

Roll it out onto a flat, clean surface. Make sure to mark the back of the blind, with the bottom of the blind facing upwards.

Then mark out your measurements with a light pencil mark and continue to do this around the full length of the blind. With a straight edge, draw a pencil line and cut the blind using a sharp pair of scissors.

Once the blind is the right size, it’s time to work out where to place the brackets. To do this, find the centre of the window, and mark the wall above this, lightly.

Measure half the width of the blind, either side of the central point of the window.

Then, taking a spirit level, mark a level height for brackets to be placed either side. Drill some holes for the brackets (make sure there’s no wiring where you drill) and then screw the brackets into place.

You’ll notice there will be a control bracket you need to install. This is the bracket that you need to position on the side of the wall that you want to use to operate the blind.

Then, you are ready to slot your brand-new roller blind in to place! Once this has been done, remember to also attach the safety device. And that’s all there is to it!
