Basic Electrical Awareness is March’s course of the month, ahead of new electrical safety regulations being rolled out to all tenancies in April.
There has always been a requirement for landlords to ensure their rental properties are electrically safe, however, following the introduction of the Housing Act 2020, a satisfactory EICR is now needed for all properties.
The course covers:
-
the basic principles of an electrical installation, all relevant wiring regulations and building regulations, HMO licence conditions and Housing Act 2020.
-
what you are permitted to do and when you will need a qualified electrican.
-
a simplification of the Electrical Installation Condition Report, to make it easier for you to read and understand
-
a visual review of common electrical faults and the completion of an EICR report
-
an overview of PAT testing and what you need to do to ensure your appliances are safe, along with a hands-on demonstration
The course is suitable for landlords, letting and managing agents, HMO managers and housing association employees.
