Green Homes: What do you think?
Landlords are being asked for their experience of the Government’s Green Grants Scheme as part of an inquiry into energy efficiency.
The Environmental Audit Committee is asking anyone who has tried to access the scheme how they have found the process and whether they have been successful.
Questions cover areas including your plans for the grant, how easy it was to find a registered contractor and how useful the Government resources were.
The answers and examples given will be used by the committee to assess the Government’s overall performance – and help inform their questioning going forward.
The survey, which can be accessed here, is part of a wider inquiry into the energy efficiency of the country’s homes, both private owner-occupied and rented.
It closes at 5pm on Monday 16th November and should take around 10 minutes to complete.
Initially announced over the summer, grants of up to £5,000 have been made available for private landlords in England to upgrade their properties.
Grants are issued as vouchers, cover up to two-thirds of costs, and are available for specific measures.
The NLRA is encouraging members to take advantage of the grants scheme while it is still available, with the government currently consulting on plans to raise minimum energy performance levels from the current E level to C – or higher.
Last week NRLA gave evidence to the Environmental Audit Committee as part of the investigation, with NRLA Local Authority Policy Officer Gavin Dick telling members a ‘policy of no regrets’ is needed, so landlords can be confident any work done will be compatible with the future change to zero carbon homes.
