Coronavirus: Template letters for landlords
The NRLA has six template letters exclusive for members to download and send to tenants during the coronavirus pandemic.
The template letters for landlords can be accessed online here and within the Property Management and Financial Support guidance section of our website. Members can access them by logging in to the site first.
Last week the RLA and the NLA officially merged to become the National Residential Landlords Association. NLA members are able to access these same template letters over on the NLA site here
The new letters include:
This letter requests a tenant gets in touch with the landlord if they require any support at this time, including if they are self-isolating, and also gives details on how the landlord will manage the property during the coronavirus pandemic.
It also outlines the financial support available for tenants, including how to access Universal Credit and encourages tenants to get in touch with the landlord if they need support financially.
Landlords can send this letter to their tenants to notify them that they are expecting contractors to visit the property on a particular date, for example to conduct a gas safety inspection.
This comes following guidance published recently that states gas safety inspections can go on as they are essential works. This is provided that everyone follows social distancing practices and the inspector, tenants, or landlord are not symptomatic at the time.
This template letter highlights the day and time the contractor is due to visit, what tenants can expect from the contractor-specifically that they will adhere to social distancing requirements at all times, and also requests tenants inform the landlord as early as possible if they are self-isolating or need support in anyway.
Financial support template letters
There are also four more template letters around financial support for tenants, including a letter for tenants requesting a rent deferral and a rent reduction proposal letter.
